FAQ's

Find answers to common questions about the programme below. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Who is the programme for?

The Therapy Programme is designed for people aged 12-17. We support teens experiencing:

  • Anxiety or stress

  • Self-esteem or identity challenges

  • Low mood or depression

  • Social isolation

  • Neurodivergent-related overwhelm

If you're unsure whether the programme is a good fit, we can discuss this during the intake process.

How much does it cost?

The group-based structure allows us to offer a much more cost-effective therapeutic support option. Pricing is available on request.

How long does the programme last?

The programme runs for 6 weeks, with four x 50 minute sessions each week - 2 sessions a day for 2 days a week. Each session is facilitated by a different therapist (counsellor, psychotherapist, art therapist and music therapist).  The programme follows a curriculum with a weekly theme and session structure. This intensive format has been shown to be beneficial for clinical impact.

What technology do participants need?

You will need:

  • A device with a camera (laptop or tablet)

  • A stable internet connection

  • A private space where the participant feels comfortable

We will provide guidance so you can test your setup before starting.

No artistic or musical experience is required — the creative activities are about self-expression, not skill.

How does the online format work?

All sessions are delivered live via a secure, GDPR-compliant video platform (Zoom for Healthcare). The online format makes support accessible from anywhere in the UK.

Parents and participants will receive:

  • Onboarding email

  • A joining link and session reminders

  • Technical guidance

  • Safeguarding guidance

  • Weekly check-in system

  • Crisis signposting information

How effective is online therapy?

Research such as the below study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry shows that telehealth online sessions can be just as effective as meeting in person, making it a strong option for receiving high-intensity and high-quality care from home.

What actually happens in a session?

Each session in The Therapy Programme is led by a qualified therapist and includes a mix of guided exercises, creative activities, and supportive group discussion. Sessions are designed to help participants understand their emotions, build self-esteem, develop coping skills, and connect with others who share similar experiences.

The programme uses four different therapy approaches, so each session has a slightly different focus:

  • Counselling sessions include grounding or check-in exercises, discussion around topics such as stress, anxiety, relationships, and confidence, and practical tools for emotional awareness and coping.

  • Psychotherapy sessions support deeper reflection, helping participants explore patterns, behaviours, and underlying emotions through guided activities and group discussion.

  • Art therapy sessions use simple creative exercises (such as digital drawing, colouring, or shapes) to support self-expression and insight. No artistic skill is needed.

  • Music therapy sessions focus on lyric analysis, meaningful songs, playlists, and simple songwriting to explore emotions, identity, and personal experiences. No music skills are needed.

Across all sessions, sharing is always optional—participants are encouraged to take part at a pace that feels right for them. Sessions are carefully structured, trauma-informed, and paced to prioritise safety, connection, and emotional wellbeing, helping participants feel supported, understood, and less alone.

Is the programme confidential?

Yes. All sessions follow strict confidentiality and data protection guidelines. Group sessions remain confidential to the participant unless there is a safety or safeguarding concern. Information will be shared if a therapist believes someone may be at risk of harm. This will always be explained clearly.

How are groups formed?

Participants are carefully matched by:

  • Age

  • Needs and goals

  • Shared themes (e.g., anxiety, confidence, transitions)

This ensures each group feels relatable, safe and supportive.

Do cameras need to be turned on in the sessions?

For safety and safeguarding reasons, cameras should be on during sessions. We understand some people feel nervous at first — we help everyone ease in gently and ensure every participant feels comfortable and welcome.

Who delivers the sessions?

Each session is led by professionally qualified and registered therapists, including:

  • Counsellors (BACP)

  • Psychotherapists (BACP/UKCP)

  • Art therapists (HCPC)

  • Music therapists (HCPC)

All therapists are trained in online delivery, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.

Can I join more than one programme?

Yes. After completion of the first programme participants can choose to:

  • Join the alumni sessions held once a month

  • Join a second cohort

We can help guide what’s best for you upon completion of the programme.

What if I miss a session?

Because of confidentiality and safety, sessions cannot be recorded. However, your facilitator can provide a summary of the theme and an optional reflection activity.

What happens if a group participant feels overwhelmed during a session?

Therapists are trained to support emotional safety and will check in with you. If needed, a participant can take a break from the session, and therapists may arrange a brief follow-up conversation or signpost additional support.

Do you offer crisis support?

No. We are not a crisis service. If someone is in immediate danger, we will follow safeguarding procedures and contact appropriate emergency services. We also provide a crisis signposting list for anyone needing urgent help.

Can parents/guardian/carers be involved?

Yes. Parents/carers receive:

  • A welcome guide

  • Support on how to help their young person

  • Optional workshops (if selected)

Group sessions remain confidential to the participant unless there is a safety concern.

How do referrals work?

You can join the programme via:

  • Self-referral

  • Parent/carer referral

  • School or college referral

  • Community organisation or youth worker referral

Our intake team will then contact you to begin screening.

How do I know if this programme is suitable?

Our intake assessment helps determine suitability. If the programme isn’t the right fit, we will signpost you to more appropriate support.
